Privacy Policy
Last updated July 13, 2026
Your privacy matters here, because privacy is the whole reason I keep my own family's names off this Site. Here's how I handle yours.
What I collect
I only collect what you choose to give me. There's no account to create. Specifically:
- Contact form: the name (or nickname) you give, your email, and your message.
- Newsletter: if you sign up, just your email address.
- The "near you" finder: if you choose to share your location, or type in a city, that is used in the moment to find nearby places. See the section below, I don't store it.
How your message is handled
When you submit the contact form, it's processed by my hosting provider (Netlify) and forwarded to my personal email so I can read and reply. That's it. Your message goes to me, one person.
The newsletter
If you subscribe, your email is stored by my database provider (Supabase) so I know who to send posts to, and a confirmation email is sent through my email provider (Resend). It uses double opt-in, meaning you're only added after you click the confirm link. I only use your email to send you the newsletter, and every email includes a way to unsubscribe. You can also ask me to remove you at any time.
The "near you" finder and your location
The activities page has an optional finder that shows places near you. It only runs if you choose to use it.
- If you tap "Use my location," your browser asks your permission and, if you agree, shares your approximate coordinates. If you'd rather not, you can just type a city or zip instead.
- When you use the finder, your coordinates are sent to my server, which looks up nearby places through Google's Places API. If instead you type a location by name, that text goes to Komoot's Photon service to turn it into a point on the map. Directions links open Google Maps.
- I do not store your location. It's used only for that one lookup and then it's gone. There's no tracking of where you are.
What I never do
- I never sell, rent, or trade your information to anyone.
- I never share it with advertisers or data brokers.
- I never use your details for anything beyond what's described here.
Service providers
To run the Site I rely on a few third-party services, each of which handles data under its own privacy policy:
- Netlify, hosting, contact-form processing, and basic technical logs.
- Supabase, the database that stores newsletter subscribers.
- Resend, sends the newsletter confirmation and emails.
- Google (Places API and Maps) and Komoot / Photon, used only when you run the "near you" finder, to look up nearby places and open directions.
- Google Maps, opens when you tap a "Directions" link.
- PostHog and Google Analytics, analytics tools, loaded only if you consent on the banner, to see which posts get read. PostHog session recording is off, and neither is used to run ads on this Site.
Cookies and analytics
This Site runs no advertising and no ad trackers. By default it sets no tracking cookies. If you choose "Okay" on the analytics banner, I load PostHog and Google Analytics so I can see which posts help, and with your consent they may set cookies or store identifiers in your browser (PostHog can use local storage; Google Analytics sets its own cookies) and log basic usage like which pages are viewed. PostHog session recording is off, and neither is used to run ads here. Decline and none of it loads. Standard server logs may still record basic technical information for security and reliability. See the Cookie Policy for more.
Keeping and deleting your information
I keep your contact message only as long as needed to correspond with you, and your newsletter email only while you're subscribed. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time, and you can ask me to delete your message or your details at any point through the contact page, and I will.
Children
This Site is written for adults (divorced and co-parenting dads) and is not directed at children under 13. Please don't submit a child's personal information through the form.
Changes
If this policy changes, I'll update the date above.
